Meulensteen

Zach Harris’s intricately constructed painted reliefs depict visionary landscapes, mottled color fields, imaginary cities, and psycho-spiritual events. Built from cut and sculpted wood, the reliefs focus the viewer’s attention, creating a world within which the image resonates. Working from both meditative intuition and a rigorous sense of technique, he pursues a formal logic with hallucinatory, ecstatic rendering, ultimately aiming to achieve a sense of integration and harmony. Zach Harris received his BA from Bard College and his MFA from Hunter College. He made his curatorial debut in 2011, with a groupshow of contemporary Los Angeles artists at Meulensteen.
